Appears so…. a test, or a change?
I discovered something interesting today. It appears that I’m not seeing dates when viewing posts on Instagram:
I’m not sure if this is an Instagram test or a feature change, but it’s downright frustrating. Beyond the ability to see dates when scrolling your timeline, it also means that if you go to someone’s profile you’re unable to determine how recently they have posted or how often they do so.
As Instagram continues its focus on being less about user-friendly photography features and more about any means necessary to get you to see more ads and spend more time in the app, I’m there less and less. Instagram doesn’t care about me, and Instagram doesn’t care about you.

Update as of August 24, 2024: It appears dates have returned for me.

Thank you for this article. I read another one that said not all users are affected only some. And that appears to be the case as I’ve checked with friends and they still see the dates on posts. I’m affected and it’s completely frustrating! I deleted the app and reloaded thinking maybe it’s just a glitch – but still no dates are appearing for me. Anyway, thanks again for the article. Can you please do an update if you find anything out about it?

I have two IG accounts. I see dates on one account but not the other. It is, indeed, frustrating.

This is happening to me too. I want answers because it’s bullshit!

I too am having this issue. Total bs because people can’t see my available jewelry because who knows how old the post is
Sally says
Same issue here. So frustrating. It makes the app unusable to not be able to see the date it was posted.
Bagher says
Have the same problem.. searched online and found nothing but this post
Vic says
I’m having this same issue and have also checked with friends who can still see the dates on their posts, agree it’s really annoying
Kylie says
Yeah, this has been annoying the crap out of me. I have a photography account and a personal, and my photography won’t show date but my personal does. I’m so confused.
Z says
Is it to do with what type of account you have? I recently switched to “creator” and that’s around the time dates stopped appearing for me
Victoria says
This is ridiculous – it’s hard to know if a post is still relevant without the date. Clearly knowing when something was posted is important information.

The dates are now showing up at the top like where a tagged location would be seen . Its annoying they should just let things be
Sirajah says
Thank you.I have the same problem too. It is so frustrating.especially for business accounts. I hope this is fixed soon.
Kelly says
They need to fix this asap. It’s not okay. Businesses post events, etc. I can’t see when things are. It’s horrible. Timelines are essential to social media. I hope enough users speak out so it gets fixed.

I too noticed this a couple weeks back. Other people can see the dates on my posts, but I can’t see them. It’s really frustrating and makes it harder for me as a small business to know what people can see and what they can’t.
Alyssa says
I just noticed this too. I can’t see dates on my own posts and other people’s posts. It’s so annoying.
